Nobody contents himself with the rough diamonds, or wears them so, when polished and set, and then they give a lusture.”

All these saying were imbibed as the “motto” in the hearts of the Charter members, majority of them happened to be the past Rotractors of Rotaract Club of Vapi when the club was established on 5th February 2004 and thereafter chartered on 3rd March 2004.

The official presentation of the Charter to Rotary Vapi Riversides’ the Charter President Rtn. Jayshree Babubhai Rana was on 8th April 2004 at a glittering function by our Sponsor Rotary Club i.e Rotary Club of Vapi by the worthy hands of District Governor Kulbandhu Sharma and President Rtn Ujwalbhai Kakaria in the presence of eminent Rotarians and Citizens of R I Dist 3060 and VAPI.

RVR in its first year of existence had to create a long, strong and everlasting bond of oneness to make a sound family – one of the main objectives of Rotary…The Family of Rotary.

Taking up small but vital projects like Rain water harvesting and water management, Vidhya -2004 an educational fair, flood relief , Polio eradication , health and hygiene, RYLA, Scholarships, near n dear to RVR is BLOOD DONATION DRIVES, Vocational Awards etc falling in the Thrust areas of service laid down by Rotary international.

The Rotary year 2004-2005 was the Centennial Year of Rotary International completing 100 years of “SERVICE ABOVE SELF” with the theme “CELEBRATE ROTARY”.

The year began with a joint installation of 7 clubs by the efforts of our AG Rtn Surendrasinh Parmar.

The important projects taken up were participating in Polio Immunization drive in the interiors of Dangs…. The jungles of Valsad, Gujarat. Donation of Rs 10,000/-for the terrorizing natural calamity... The Tsunami that affected the southern coast of India… Contribution of TRF: The 1st Paul Harris Fellow of the club was registered and EREY contribution was also made. Hosted RFE team from Australia (Dist 9790) and GSE team from Finland (Dist 1390)

Centennial Celebrations: A mega “CAR RALLY” on 23rd February 2005 was the main attraction in the town of VAPI. The evening witnessed a grand Birthday party attended by all neighboring clubs. Fund Raiser- MAA PAAB ne BHULSO NAHI by Shri ASHWIN JOSHI.

The Rotary year 2005-2006 was the 1st year on the next Centennial of Rotary International completing 101 years with the theme” SERVICE ABOVE SELF”. Rtn Ruchir Aniruddhbhai Jani, the master mind and the grass-root volunteer to build the club during its existence took over the reigns of this small but outstanding club-with young like-minded gems who worked restlessly in its 1st year to be ranked as the FIVE STAR club by the centennial District Governor Rtn Dr. Ashok Kapadia under the able leadership of Jayshree.

“Change is inevitable”… “the price of progress is change”…”Team is a group of people who may not be equal in Qualification, Experience or Talent but are equal in COMMITMENT to achieve SUCCESS!”

The “TEAM RVR” was now much stronger with many talented hands to work together. The changing over of the baton of leadership to Ruchir was carried in the gracious presence of PDG Prakash Shesh by DG Rtn Ashis Roy.

RVR started expanding its wings towards the interiors of Kaprada-a tribal habitation of Valsad, Gujarat.

The major activities taken up were support to girl child literacy, providing food grains to them, Arranging health and dental camps for them. Rain water harvesting, mini marathons, seminar on AIDS awareness, RYLA, Felicitation of Toppers at BOARD Examination were some while the MEGA Project was the Inter School Quiz Competition for the Schools of Valsad District.
The Talent Evening – Hungama was the joint efforts of Rotary Club of Vapi, Rotary Vapi Riverside, and Rotaract Vapi and of course Inner wheel Vapi.

Formation of Rotary Community corps at Dabkhal Kaprada Formation of interact club at St. Xavier’s High School Vapi. A Dream Project- A permanent Project was conceived – to establish a full flagged GIRLS HOSTEL at Dabkhal with the Partner club R C DEL SOL, California USA. Contribution to TRF -Due to the efforts of the born leader… Ruchir … the club was now a 100 % PHF club, EREY Club and RFSM Club. Fund raiser and PR Project X-MAS DHOOM was a grand success RVR was Co-host to District Conference “ANANDAM” with Rotary Club of Vapi. The “TEAM RVR” was now much stronger with many talented hands to work together. The changing over of the baton of leadership to Ruchir was carried in the gracious presence of PDG Prakash Shesh by DG Rtn Ashis Roy.

The Rotary year 2006-2007 was the 2nd year on the next Centennial of Rotary International completing 102 years with the theme “LEAD THE WAY”. Rtn Jayendra Ramanbhai Patel took over the “cruise liner RVR” as the captain. The oath taking was done in the majestic presence of PDG Manoj Desai and IPDG Ashis Roy.

The service projects this year were Scholarships, Blood Donation, Dedication of Computer Lab, Eye check-up for school children, Essay competition, elocution and drawing competition, Polio immunization on SNIDs and NIDs, Water Management, Inter Club Quiz competition, Felicitation of Toppers at Board Exam,Vocational Awards, Vocational training,4 way test promotion and Vocational visits and club picnics.

A Dream Project- GIRLS HOSTEL at Dabkhal was supported by way of giving learning aids like note-books, talent promotion and uniforms. Food grains were provided for the complete year.

Billboards for the PR of Rotary and RVR were placed on prime locations for the entire year. Fund raiser and PR Project- X-mas Dhoom the much awaited program brought laurels to the club in its 2nd year. GSE team orientation and Farewell hosted by the club. Contribution to TRF -The club was now a 100 % PHF club, EREY Club (2nd year) .

The year was memorable as the 1st International Youth Exchange Student out bound Annet Noopur Jayendra Patel went to the US for 1 year .The Charter President Rtn Jayshree Rana was leading the GSE team to Brazil, Mr. Jiten Prajapati was the 1st GSE team member for the team visiting Israel and Rtn Amisha on her personal visit to the US attended the clubs meeting in Chicago. So now RVR was taken to the western world by our Ambassadors.

The Rotary year 2007-2008 was the 3rd year on the next Centennial of Rotary International completing 103 years with the theme “ROTARY SHARES”. Rtn Yashhraaj Barman was the natural choice as the President of RVR in its 4th year. The oath taking was done in the dignified presence of PDG Nilax Mufti. IPDG Ashis Roy, DGN Surendrasinh Parmar and DGNN Major Sharma graced the occasion. .

The service projects this year were Scholarships, Blood Donation, Dedication of lights and fans to schools, Eye check-up for school children, Essay competition, elocution and drawing competition, Polio immunization on SNIDs and NIDs, Water Management, Inter Club Quiz competition- now named BRAIN NINJA, Vocational Awards, Vocational training,4 way test promotion and Vocational visits and club picnics. Dedication of sewing machines under the District Service Project was done at Dabkhal.

Rotary Club of Madras WORTH Private Industrial Training Institute

Rotary Club of Madras (RCM) is a social service organization, operating under Rotary International carrying out multi-dimensional Community based projects for the welfare of the community. A recent example of RCM’s consistent effort to make a valuable difference in the community we serve is the Rotary Club of Madras Worth Private Industrial Training Institute, Thiruvallur or Technical Training Centre (TTC), in short. This integral example of service and commitment was conceived by Rtn. PP Ranjit Pratap, in 2018-19 as a collaboration with the Worth Trust.

AIM:

As Debra Ruh said “The only disability is when people cannot see human potential.” Our TTC programs aims to educate, train, employ and empower, those who are speech and hearing impaired, or orthopedically challenged. They will be taught suitable technical trades like turning and machining using CNC Machines removing barriers and opening the doors to equal opportunity so they can lead independent lives with dignity.

BENEFICIARIES:

The differently-abled mainly Speech & Hearing Impaired and Orthopedically Challenged persons in the age group of 16- 30 hailing from rural and economically weak backgrounds will benefit from this technical training centre. They will be identified mainly from Thiruvallur, Chennai, Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu and from various other districts of Tamil Nadu.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

RCM allocated 2.55 acres of land valued at Rs.1.5 crores for this project, built up 4500 square feet, equipped it with requisite machinery ,tools, other infrastructure, and refurbished Ten residential units of 8000 sq ft to house the students. The overall value of this project is Rs.5.5 crore made possible as a CSR initiative with Global grant funding and the support of our District 3232.

COURSES

2 years residential Turner and Machinist course
1 year Sewing and Cutting Technology course
6 month long Smart Phone Service course.
All courses will be certified by the National Council for Vocational Training under the Directorate of General Training, New Delhi.

ABOUT WORTH TRUST

The courses will be administered and run by the WORTH Trust, a fully self-sustained Rehabilitation Organization. It was started in 1963 by the Swedish Red Cross with the objective of rehabilitating leprosy-cured persons generally ostracized by society, through industrial training and employment. The Trust’s activities now focus on rehabilitating those with Hearing, Orthopedic and Intellectual Challenges, with centres in Katpadi, Trichy and Pondy. These are fully residential and provide all the basic facilities for the students.

The production centres, which employ mostly Persons with Disabilities, enable them to generate a revenue surplus, with which they meet the entire cost of the Technical Training Centres, School & Early Intervention Centre for Children with Speech and Hearing Impairment, Day Activity Centre for Children with Intellectual Challenges and Outreach Activities. The students trained in these Technical Training Centres are primarily employed in Machine Shops, Plastic Moulding operations and Brailler assembly being created by WORTH Trust.
